Be someone! Buy a house in the Sehome historic district.Sehome use to be a separate town a long time ago (1800's)that merged with Whatcom and Fairhaven to become Bellingham. Historic districts are the best investments in real estate. They hold their values the best when times are bad and go up the most when times are good. Look it up. A quiet area but close in. If you don't like being woken up during the night this is a good thing . My grandparents bought this 83 years ago(I have the original mortgage papers). Then my Mom got it and now lil ol me. It was built in 1904. I don’t really want to be in the rental or airbnb business so my best option is to sell it.
It is a traditional style inside. It has 9' ceilings on the main floor. It has wood floors throughout except the bathroom and kitchen . The wood floors in the front room andvdining room have paint on them so they'd need to be sanded down and refinished. This is a healthy house, made of solid wood inside and out(cedar shingle siding), not with chipboard and waferboard(OSB) and Chinese drywall which emit toxic fumes and pressboard siding which gets moldy and turns into mush if it gets wet . It has superior lath and plaster walls which would cost a lot to get done that way today. The plumbing(copper water lines) and electrical (200A service)have mostly been modernized, except for a few circuits using the original knob and tube wiring. It has electric baseboard heat . Put heat pump(s) in and you may qualify for a big rebate from the electric company. A house must have electric heat to get most of the PSE rebates. The roof needs cleaning and 2 sides painted (the ones that face the sun and rain). It has the biggest lot on the block and maybe the district. 7405sq.ft. It has a large gravel parking area in the back plus a long concrete driveway in front where you can park many cars. It has a carport and a former garage(<400sq.ft) (which has been enclosed for a possible adu). The main floor and upstairs total 1450sq.ft . It has 5br and 1 bt. There are 2 br and 1 bt downstairs ,and 3br up. The basement is finished into a separate living area, approximately 1000sq.ft with 2br and 1 bt. It is not fancy . It is basic good enough for working people or college students. Altogether the house is around 2450sq.ft including the basement. It comes with furnishings , as I have been considering airbnb if I don’t get the right buyer . It has nice views out some of the windows .A deck off the back door would be ideally situated. It is a few steps away from the Sehome arboretum and a short relaxing walk through it to WWU. Or you can take a peasant stroll down bucolic 34th street to the nearby Sehome shopping center. Not to mention lots of dining on Samish close by.

This house is not renovated. If you want one of those in this area be prepared to spend $825K+. Drive by before you contact me. It is alright to walk around the yard and look things over.
