Grass Fed Beef. but not - $1 (Everson)

make / manufacturer: GOD
model name / number: BEEF COW
Beware folks, putting a young steer on pasture for a few months before slaughter may be a ruse to fool you into thinking that it will be healthier than regular beef. Unless it is the 2nd or better yet, the 3rd generation of cows that have never had grain, the fat and meat from that cow is not much of a bump up from any other cow. From the Mayo clinic site: "Grass-fed beef may have: Lower total fat content. More heart-healthy omega-3 fatty acids. More omega-6 fatty acid called linolenic acid. However, grass-fed beef and conventional beef, called grain-fed, both contain saturated fat. Such fat has been linked to unhealthy cholesterol levels. The American Heart Association recommends limiting saturated fat." Reputable Grass Fed Beef Farmers have parents on site, or can direct you to where they purchased the cows. Generally speaking, the young steers sold via the local auction barn do not come from certified, pasture raised herds... do you research. Yummy taste is not proof of anything... although in my experience, real-generational pasture raised beef is the yummiest.
