condition: good
make / manufacturer: Løvig for DANSK Design
model name / number: "Partners" Flip-Top Desk
1960's early-edition Peter Løvig Nielson for DANSK Design "Partners" flip-top desk in teak. This beautiful, ginormous desk features a shelf on butler's hinges that can be used up (stacked on top of the desk) or flipped down (creating a larger flat surface). When flipped down, desk is easily useable from both sides. When flipped up, an additional row of cubbies is accessible on the back side of the stationary portion.

Wear is consistent with age and use, but I've put many hours into detailing and fixing it up: extra dowels added to stabilize legs, all drawers squared and repaired, inlay added to one side of the shelf to repair and cover damaged veneer/pressboard vertical, finish scoured and oiled to a luxurious warmth.

Desk is missing the key to the (easily-replaceable, standard) drawer lock and the teak side-banding has come off the stationary part of the desk. If I intended to keep it, I would add leather banding with nailheads or brass trim strips instead of trying to replicate the fragile original banding. I used it for several years without the banding and didn't think it was noticeable, anyway.

Desk is 64" long and 23.5" from floor to bottom of desktop (clearance). Main desk portion is 29" high. When shelf is flipped up, desk is 29" deep and 34" high at the top. When shelf is flipped down, desktop is 38" deep, and seat clearance around the two ends and back side is 11" deep from desktop edge to legs. Drawers, flip shelf and legs can all be removed easily for transport. Main desktop takes two people to lift and maneuver safely.

Stunning executive desk? Massive project or craft station? Transforming wfh/homeschool desk-to-dining-table that seats six? Incredible jigsaw puzzle table? Let your dreams be your guide!
