Little is known of the “Blue Wizards”. There’s nothing about them in text published by J.R.R. Tolkien. But Tolkien said (see “The Letters of J.R.R. Tolkien”, #211) that he thought it likely that the Blue Wizards had gone into the “East and South” to see what could be done about loosening Sauron’s hold on the people there, and that they probably failed AND that they were probably the source of latter magical cults.
Christopher Tolkien published a few passages that his father had written towards the end of his life as a chapter called “The Istari” in “The Unfinished Tales”, which named the two Blue Wizards as Alatar and Pallando. CT speculated that Oromë, who of all the Valar had traveled farthest into the East on his hunting jags, perhaps chose Alatar deliberately because he would be a far traveler. Another part of the essay mentioned, Saruman traveled into the East with the Blue Wizards, but that only HE had returned to the West.
That’s pretty much it. Tolkien would enjoy your ownership of one! One of his writing tools, was his ability to add references to a larger world of mythology to his magnificent works.
