BIG BLUE BETTY
1989 GMC like Chevrolet V2500 ( "V" indicates 4x4 whereas "C" indicates 2WD)
This is a more rare 3/4 ton version with a nice thick leaf pack.
Was purchased brand new in Whatcom County, was once registered in Skagit, but has been back in Bham for the last 25 years. This is a daily driver, is always reliable, frequents Mt. Baker every winter and faithfully launches the ski boat in the summers. All the gauges work on it, including fuel gauge! There is not a rust problem anywhere.
SPECS:
Engine: SBC 350 , 5.7 liter Throttle body Fuel Injected
Transmission: TH400 automatic (Same as all the heavy-duty gas trucks from 80's and 90's)
Mileage: odometer reads 74000. I'll bet its 174k! (How could it not be?!)
Features:
PWR Sunroof: Yes, a factory custom option. It works and has NEVER leaked. tilts up and slides back.
Wheels: Taken from a 2006 GMC Duramax
Air conditioning: Front and rear
Tailgate type: Barn doors, not a tailgate with the electronic glass that always malfunctions
Suspension: 3/4 ton
Seating: 8 Passenger ( front captains chairs, middle bench seat, 3rd row bench seat)
Spare Tire: Still New, never used
Exterior: Body is near perfect, but original paint (clearcoat gone on hood). No dents, door dings, rust problems or bondo.
Interior: Most likely better than you are expecting. really VERY clean including trunk area. seats are 9/10
Charging: 12 Volt in the dash for cell phones etc
Extras: I have the OEM rear spoiler and factory running boards. I just took them off.
To my knowledge, there is no other 89' in existence with a sunroof option like this.
Every fluid has been changed regularly, including front and rear diffs, coolant, and transmission (pan drop with new filters). Brakes were done 2 years ago including master cylinder. They work terrific.
Needs:
New exhaust tailpipe (Cat back). Has original radio but doesn't work.
This is a daily driver and will continue to be used as such until sold.
My plan was to upgrade leaf springs with Tuff Country EZ ride, put on Fox shocks and maybe a lift kit, but at this point it's all stock and I believe smarter to let the new owner make their own decisions.
