With more than 10 years in our beautiful Waples Mercantile Building café, Avenue Bread loves being part of the Lynden community! Along with our 3 Bellingham locations, we’ve become a mainstay in Whatcom County over 30 years, helping create a community centered on nourishing locals and visitors alike, providing fresh artisan breads, coffee, pastries, breakfast, and lunch, sourcing from local purveyors whenever possible.
We are looking for an experienced dinner line cook for our Lynden location. The ability to grill awesome burgers and sandwiches and create beautiful salads at a fast pace is what we’re looking for. Except for breakfast items, we offer our full menu and additional dinner-only items after 4pm. Your priority will be providing our customers with delicious food, and because we have each other’s backs you will also help any other team member when needed. You’ll begin your shift in the afternoon and stay through closing, so you’ll also have the cleaning responsibilities that come with closing up each night. As management we do our best to support our staff with whatever is needed to help all succeed, and value the relationships we form as well. We’re looking for someone who takes pride in cooking delicious and appealing food at a fast pace, and has a passion for being part of a supportive team environment. Most importantly we work together to provide a welcoming, positive experience and nourishment for our community.
Hours: Full-time (30-40 hours). Evening shifts of 5-8 hours Weekends are required
Restuarant closes at 8pm. Out by 9pm
Starting Wage: $17.75 - $18.50/hour plus tips (approx. $7/hour).
We’re Looking For:
• Min. 1 year restaurant line cook experience.
• Have a sense of urgency and enjoy a fast-paced team environment. Take initiative and help others.
• On time to work with a positive attitude towards everyone.
• Strong communication and multitasking skills.
• Must know and follow sanitation procedures, maintain a clean and organized work area, and complete all scheduled cleaning assignments at the end of each shift.
• Must be able to climb stairs.
• Ability to stand for up to 8hrs per shift, lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, have full mobility of hands and arms while performing repetitive tasks.
• Current Food Handlers Card.
• Serve Safe Certification is a plus.
