Crave Catering & Kelly’s Casual Catering – Ferndale, WA

We’re looking for a Sous Chef to work side-by-side with our Executive Chef and help lead production for weddings, corporate events, and special celebrations throughout Whatcom County.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys both cooking and leadership and wants to be part of a growing hospitality company where their work truly matters.
Our kitchens support two brands:
*Crave Catering – elevated events and weddings
*Kelly’s Casual Catering – approachable, fun catering and corporate events
This means variety, creativity, and a kitchen where no two weeks look exactly the same.
Pay
$23–$26 per hour (DOE)
Location
Ferndale, WA
Schedule
• Varies by season
• Weekends required (most events happen then)
• Occasional holidays
What You'll Be Doing
• Preparing exceptional food for catered events and contracted menus
• Working alongside our Executive Chef to coordinate kitchen production
• Expediting orders to ensure quality, timing, and presentation
• Supporting kitchen staff and maintaining a smooth workflow
• Managing inventory and ensuring ingredients are fresh and properly stored
• Maintaining high sanitation and food safety standards
• Assisting with kitchen opening, closing, and prep leadership
• Occasionally supporting off-site catering events
This role helps ensure every event leaves our kitchen with food we’re proud of.
What We're Looking For
• 2+ years kitchen experience in a similar role
• Washington State Food Worker Card
• Strong knowledge of cooking methods and kitchen equipment
• Ability to stay organized and composed during high-volume production
• Professional, dependable, and team-oriented attitude
• Ability to lift 40 lbs and work an active shift
Catering experience is a bonus, but strong cooks ready for leadership are encouraged to apply.
