At Avenue Bread we strive to create a strong community, centered around authentic eats for locals and visitors alike. We have become a mainstay in the Bellingham area with over 25 years of providing coffee, pastries, breakfast and lunch to the public. In essence we are a local café chain with 3 locations in Bellingham and one in Lynden.
We are looking for a confident and responsible Fairhaven Café Lead to help guide / supervise our location.
The Café Lead along with our General Manager will assist in running our café efficiently, and is responsible for ensuring that the café meets company standards in sales, staffing, quality and operations. We have a tight knit team who aim to provide quick and excellent customer service with a smile to downtown Bellingham. As the Café Lead you will train all new café staff and will need to have a deep understanding of our products.
Hours:
Full time position (40 hrs per week)
We’re looking for:
• Min. 3 years of food service experience.
• Min. 1 year of leadership experience.
• Sales experience preferred.
• Barista experience
• Experience with POS systems.
• Ability to drive, be insurable and possess a clean driving record (Driving Record Abstract and license will be required upon hire).
• Excellent communication skills and strong customer service experience required.
• Ability to obtain Food Handlers Permit and MAST Certificate.
Lead Responsibilities Include:
• Trains cafe staff.
• Manages employee callout in the Café Managers absence.
• Brings all employee complaints, gossip, and concerns to the Café GM.
• Brings immediate employee concerns or disciplinary actions to HR.
• Responsible for all aspects of the location.
• Ability to perform any position in the café including front counter and the some kitchen.
• Place orders for product such as coffee, milk, Sysco
Other Responsibilities Include:
• Oversees food preparation, ensuring compliance with health, safety, food handling, and hygiene standards.
• Ensures customer satisfaction with all aspects of the café experience.
• Handles customer complaints, resolving issues in a diplomatic and courteous manner.
• Ensures compliance with alcoholic beverage regulations.
• Manages inventory and purchases food and supplies.
• In Managers absence conducts daily inspection of cafe and equipment to ensure compliance with health, safety, food handling, and hygiene standards.
• Periodically evaluates cafe equipment for repairs and maintenance; schedules for service.
• Collaborates with other managers on new menu items.
• Ensures outside dining is presentable for customers.
• Monitors labor hours and phases out employees when necessary.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
Wage Range: $20-$23 with tips (DOE)
