Job Type: Part-time or Full-time. Flexibility with shift. For example, hours for FT could be approximately from 6:30am-3:30pm, 6:00am-3:00pm, or 5:30am-2:30pm. Hours for PT could be 6:30am-12:00pm or 8:30am-2:00pm.

Responsibilities
• Prepare and cook nutritious meals and snacks in accordance with dietary guidelines and menu plans tailored for children.
• Plan menus that incorporate a variety of healthy foods, considering dietary restrictions and preferences.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen area, adhering to food safety and sanitation standards.
• Handle food preparation tasks such as chopping, portioning, and cooking using appropriate knife skills and culinary techniques.
• Serve meals in a friendly manner that encourages positive eating habits and social interaction among children.
• Manage food inventory, including ordering supplies, storing ingredients properly, and minimizing waste.
• Ensure all food handling procedures comply with health and safety protocols to prevent contamination or foodborne illnesses.
Skills
• Extensive dietary department experience or dietary aide experience in childcare or healthcare settings.
• Strong menu planning abilities with knowledge of child nutrition standards and preferences.
• Proven food preparation and cooking skills, including knife skills and meal assembly techniques.
• Experience with food service operations within a food industry or restaurant environment.
• Knowledge of food safety practices, sanitation procedures, and proper food handling protocols.
• Managing the quick turn around from breakfast to lunch is critical. Children must be fed on schedule. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment while maintaining attention to detail.
• Familiarity with large-scale meal preparation for groups of children or similar populations.

Job Requirements:
• We are looking for employees who will commit to 2 years—preferably longer.
• Food Handler's Permit as required by WA state.
• Required to have or obtain DEL Portable Background Check (per WAC 170-06-0040).
• Have or obtain HIV/Bloodborne Pathogens training certificate, Pediatric/Child CPR& First Aid.
• Confirmation of Negative for TB (WA State Requirement).
• Ability to communicate effectively with the children, family members, supervisors and co-workers.
• Professionalism at all times.
• Experience in group childcare environment preferred.
• Food training in sanitation, food safety, nutrition, food preparation.
