this is a turntable that I have rebuilt and modified.
if you are looking for a turntable that gives excellent results then read on, if you want an original turntable that looks like new for $65, keep looking elsewhere
I have rebuilt this turntable, it plays records most excellently
but you should know the following
1) the power switch is not original but looks and feels like the original
2) I have removed the cover sensor so the turntable thinks the lid is always down
3) I have removed the size sensor so it thinks all records are 12 inch (the standard size) it will NOT play 7 inch records. it will play 12 inch records at 45RPM if you have any (I have one, they were made usually in the 80's)
4) the lid has difficulty staying up so it is best to hold it in place when changing records
5) I have installed a used Grado cartridge which sounds fine to me
6) the ground wire is not original
7) the turntable mat is felt and not the original rubber mat, I have made a hole in the mat for the record sensor that lets the TT know there is a record on the platter
so for $65 you get a high performance record playing addition to your system for only $65, a deal that is hard to beat if you just care about quality playback.
google technics SL-DL5 for more info !
you must have an input labeled "PHONO" or have a phono preamplifier to use a turntable
