Lead Teacher for Lynden Cooperative Preschool
A highly successful, well-established cooperative preschool is accepting applications for a part-time Lead Teacher for the 2026–2027 school year. The preschool is a nonprofit organization run by an elected volunteer executive board and members of the cooperative, and is affiliated with Skagit Valley College’s Parenting Education Program.
Qualifications
ECE certificate, endorsement, training, and/or experience working with children ages 2–5 and with parents/caregivers.
Ability to create a curriculum that includes:
Developmentally appropriate, experiential, play-based activities designed to promote social, emotional, cognitive, and physical growth.
Activities in art, music, dramatic play, science, outdoor play, and language development.
Active participation of parents/caregivers as daily teacher helpers, fostering strong family involvement and partnerships.
Energetic and enthusiastic, with the ability to build constructive relationships with children and adults.
Experience in a cooperative preschool as a teacher or parent/caregiver preferred.
Willingness to maintain current First Aid and CPR certifications and complete a background check.
Ability to work in a high-energy environment.
Ability to collaborate with community partners.
Physical ability to work with young children (e.g., squat, sit on the floor or in child-size chairs, climb stairs, pivot, and run as needed).
Solid knowledge of early childhood education and child development.
Understanding that parents are their children’s first teachers and commitment to partnering with them.
Strong collaborative skills and willingness to work as a team with parents/caregivers.
Flexibility to adjust plans to meet the diverse needs of the group.
Responsibilities
Collaborative planning with a co-teacher. Plan and teach four morning sessions per week for children ages 2–5. The co-teaching model with the outgoing teacher will run from September to December; starting in January, the preschool will transition to a single lead teacher.
Hours of operation are: Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, 9:00 a.m.–12:30 p.m., for preschool and pre-K classes; and Fridays, 9:45 a.m.–12:15 p.m., for a parent-child toddler class. (A slight schedule change may be considered).
Participate in board meetings, and other school functions as listed on the school calendar.
Approx. 66 hours per month. Salary: $26-$28/hr. DOE
School runs from September to May, with approximately 20 additional hours during the summer.
