Push Hands is a fun, safe, yet effective two person exercise where students practice the self defense aspects of T'ai Chi Ch'uan, an internal style martial art almost 1,000 years old.
Most martial arts are based on force and resistance but T'ai Chi Ch'uan is a style of self defense based on softness and yielding, the spectral opposite of almost everything out there.
In this art we learn how to sense and spontaneously respond to others' energy. We create roots that go deep into the earth so that we become immovable. We learn to develop the intrinsic power of our limbs so that no one can attack or even bend an arm, wrist or shoulder. Feel what it is like to access the truly indestructible power of your body while learning to use your natural flexibility to neutralize and evade any aggressive force. As we devlop our skills we discover what self-empowerment truly feels like.
Push Hands is open to all with or without previous T'ai Chi experience and best of all, it is a lot of fun to practice and is why we refer to it as playing push hands. Feel free to call or text to join or just show up any Monday or Wednesday at 6:00 pm at The Karate Church. The cost is $25 per individual class or $20 per class if paid by the month.
