Purple Floral Pattern ~ Heavy Gold Gild Surrounds Plate

This is a square plate with a makers mark of T&V on the back. It has a cream/white center with a floral pattern of blue/purple flowers. There are four sea shell pattern corners; the corners and the edges are heavily gold gilded. The plate is in fantastic condition for its age. There are no chips or dents. There is loss of gilt along the rim of the edges. The center has some utensil marks and some loss of glaze. The plate measures approximately 7 5/8 inches by 7 5/8 inches and approximately 1 inch in height. The mark on the back also has the words Patd April 2d 89 T&V. This is the mark of Gustave Vogt and Emilien Tressemann who partnered in the early 1880's to produce high quality white-ware for Europe and export to the USA. The company closed in 1919; In 1919 Martial Raynaud bought the company and continued using the T&V mark as well as his own Raynaud mark. Raynaud porcelain remains in business today.
