This is a Lilliput Lane sculpture Dunster Yarn Market. It was issued in 2002 and is retired. It comes in its
original box and deeds. The building is an octagonal shape with windows to display their woolen goods.
Sheep are grazing on one side. On the front are 2 ladies with baskets of yarn and clothes. On the other
side is a wheelbarrow with sacks of wool. As with all Lilliput Lane cottages, the original Built in 1609 and
repaired in 1647, it sits in the middle of the high street as a monument to this trade. Before it was built,
most of the buying and selling would have been done in the open air, but the English weather being
what it is, there must have been occasions when trading was halted by wind or rain. Sellers must also have
been worried about the security of their goods. The Yarn Market was a permanent solution to all these problems.
There are 2 available in the UK and 1 available in the US.
