Join us for a day of woodworking in this half-day course designed for adults new to or with some experience in greenwood carving and whittling. This course is co-led by Jazmen Yoder (Northwest Natura) Mike B. (The Dry Troll / Troll Mountain Forge).
What to Expect:
-Handcraft your own utensil from start to finish
-Learn carving techniques, detail work, and knife safety
-Step-by-step instructions from two teachers.
-Wood will be green (fresh) and ethically sourced by the instructors. Carving knives will be available for day use for all participants.
Step by step instructions will be geared towards carving a spatula or a spreader (similar to a butter knife). If you have upper intermediate or advanced carving skills, please feel free to carve something else such as a spoon or ladle (bring your own hook knife or carving knife set). Note that it is unlikely you’ll have enough time to complete a bowled project in the time allotted in this workshop.
What to bring:
-Wear something comfortable - this course will likely take place outdoors, weather permitting. Exact location TBA closer to the date.
-Snacks/lunch and water
-Your own knife, knife set, and/or carving tools (optional. Knives will be provided)
-Notebook and pen (optional)
-Blanket or camp chair (both?) for sitting outside (optional but recommended)
Please register via the event website. Space is limited.
