Come take a walk through the forest to learn more about plants than just their names and visible features. In this course, get to know native plants by their textures and aromas with guidance on how to remember them in your own unique way. This workshop is unique: you’ll be encouraged to have a non-visual experience with each plant you meet.
Have fun with a naturalist who can tell you endless facts about the plants you meet. You can describe textures, aromas, and tastes in as many words as you can. In doing so, you’ll be able to recall names and uses of plants without looking by the end of the day when your instructor will do a recall activity.
In this sensory-focused course we’ll spend the day immersed in deep forest and riparian habitat using an ADA trail to learn from plants through their textures, aromatics, and other effects they have on our senses.
If you are looking for a mental health day this one is designed to be slow-paced and meditative.
If you are vision-impaired, this is a great class to come to. You can access it by public transportation (details below). Jazmen can assist you on the trail if necessary. Inform Northwest Natura of special needs or requests.
