Wa’apa, an out rigger sailing canoe. Capacity 1 or 2. 16’ by 6’ 11 3/4” total width. Build in 2010 to plans in GaryDierking’s book, Building Outrigger Sailing Canoes.
Modified in 2022-2023 to fit on a trailer; with safety float, rudder and tiller stick, stub mast for easier mast and sail raising; bracket
for an outboard motor and other improvements.
Comes with a Trailex trailer, EP Carry electric motor, two lithium batteries, a 30W solar panel, and sail bag. The trailer has less than 1000
miles on it and the motor less than 10 hours.
Difficult or impossible to capsize in normal conditions; reasonably fast. Compared to kayaks and canoes, and many small sailing
boats: it is easier to get in and out of for an older person; can be more comfortable; has more storage capacity.
Does take about 20 minutes to set up before launching.
Priced to sell as I am 90 and giving up driving and need the money and storage space.
