Antique Thonet Bentwood Side Chair, Model 118
Made in Vienna, Austria. This model was introduced into the Thonet catalog in 1895 and has complete marks on the underside of the frame. Letter of Authenticity from Thonet Gmbh is available.
Rare piece...very few of these chairs survived the wars. This is not a reproduction but rather an authentic antique original.
Made by Michael Thonet (Austrian, 1796-1871), this charming chair was constructed with solid European beech and features a gorgeous embossed plywood seat that has a pebbled texture like leather. The seat is fastened with brass nails. Bentwood construction was developed by Micheal Thonet.
The chair is marked on the underside of the frame "13", "Thonet Austria", "Rd.218810"
The chair has been professionally restored and is in excellent condition.
35 inch tall, 15 1/2 inch wide x 14 1/2 inch seat deep with a seat height of 18 3/4".
