This is a long shot, but wondering if there is anybody willing to spend some time on a few weekend days teaching me to run a manual mill and lathe the correct way.
For background, I have spent a good couple years in an engine machine shop, and currently work as an electrician.
I have a good basic skillset to make parts, and over the years have learned to weld, fabricate and machine. I assemble engines, fabricate and paint cars in my personal time.
Unfortunately, most of my knowledge has been self taught, with some instruction from older knowledgable guys along the way.
What I am looking for, is a retired professional machinist who would be willing to show me the correct, and more efficient way to make quality parts on manual machines, sort of a relearning crash course to correct the bad habits I probably have, and incorrect processes I probably use.
I do not have machines at my house, as the equipment I use is at my works’ workshop.
If anyone would be willing to spend a day or two dinking around in their shop, I would love to come learn and make conversation.
I know this is a long shot, but figured I would throw it out there regardless.
