Volunteers are the lifeblood of animal rescue. Can you set aside some time to help in the rescue process? There are many ways in which you might be of service. If you are interested, please fill out the volunteer application and return it to the sanctuary.
Volunteer Water and Food Changers
Each day we must give fresh water and food to these birds. Extra help is appreciated all the time.
Volunteer/Cage Cleaners
Each day each cage must be cleaned thoroughly. Each cage is stripped of debris and bedding is changed. Floors are swept and laundry is done. Cage Attendants may also be asked to help provide food and water for the birds.
Weekend Work Events
Each month Mollywood holds a Work Party Saturday. These saturdays usually consist of taking care of large projects like building aviaries and clearing out spaces to put them. Please contact Mollywood for future dates.
Drivers
This involves picking up animals from all over the state of Washington, sometimes even Oregon or the close edge of Idaho. Also you may be asked to pick up donations of pet foods and supplies. Sometimes we have as much as a day's notice, sometimes we need a driver immediately.
Foster Care
A foster home must be able to provide a safe, warm place isolated from other pets. The birds need lots of human contact to help develop confidence and social skills. Supplies such as pellets, cage paper, water and toys are generally supplied by the foster home. You must volunteer at Mollywood to qualify as a foster home. Please email us to enquire further.

There may be other ways you'd like to help out. Tell us what you're good at and how you'd like to use your talent. Are you a contractor, electrician or ???? contact us. We need help in almost every area, all the time!

The Sports and Emotions lab at San Francisco State is conducting a research study to determine the factors (happiness, game day experience, personality, etc.) that predict fan loyalty - we are interested in predicting enjoyable and stressful events at sporting events. The survey takes only 15 minutes. You will answers questions about your last game day experience. At the end of the survey there is an option to enter a raffle to win 1 of 10 $25 gift certificates. Title: Volunteer Mentor for participating Bellingham High Schools
Purpose: Encourage a young person's success in school and life
Duties:
• Support a young person through an on-going, one-to-one relationship
• Serve as a positive role model and friend
• Activities could include: talking and listening; helping to clarify school, personal or career goals; working on homework, encouraging effective study or organizational skills; playing games or sports
Time Commitment:
• One hour during the school day each week between November and June
• About two hours of initial training

Diverse points of view on the topic is what I am looking for, whether or not you would ever get yourself or your child vaccinated, if you think the whole concept is being blown out of proportion by the media, etc, etc. I will be asking a series or 5-10 easy questions about your thoughts on the matter concerning your fears, thoughts, changed behavior relating to the health concern, ideas, etc.

St. Francis Foundation is sewing together quilt blocks & assembling the intergenerational hand print quilt. It will be raffled off to fund childcare programs and intergenerational programs!
The free continental breakfast kickoff, sponsored by the Whatcom Volunteer Center, will start at 8 am at Bellingham High School. We will have maps for the location of your worksite for you at breakfast.
Birch Bay State Park will be mitigating the high impact on the park from high volumes of people in the summer.
They are planting ferns, salmonberry and snowberry into areas that were damaged by visitors. They will also be cleaning up litter in the camp and on the beach.
Kulshan Community Land Trust is finishing the landscaping of the Kulshan Commons playground. We're still looking for 11 volunteers. Refreshments will be provided.
