However, the one driver behind this could be the easy fact that there are simply too many times when I feel too alone. Most all of my friends are gone to school away from here and I'm left on my own, although I know many people all of those connections and good times are through working relationships on projects, etc. In other words, currently I have almost no one who I can simply call up and hang out with. I can entertain myself just fine some of the time, but there are plenty of times when I just wish I had someone to share time with. Much of this likely comes from the fact that I am not in school and do not hold a regular, standard job. Now, if you're about to judge me on that and call me a slacker, you'd be very mistaken. I made an educated decision upon leaving high school and graduating running start at WCC with my AA degree that I would not continue in school. This is based on the idea that very few practical skills for the real world are taught in school, and I'm not about to waste my time learning things that won't help in the future. I am self educated since I left school (with only one random quarter at WWU). I have heavily studied peak oil (in depth about the consequences, about oil and gas drilling technology and geology), and all things sustainability related, with a heavy focus on Permaculture. Next year I will be getting my Permaculture design certificate. I do not hold a regular job because I'm not about to support the current service economy that is prevalent today. For the last two years I've been a treeplanter in central B.C. in the spring and summer and now I'm working with a partner to create a local sustainable forestry cooperative. As soon as I'm an official Permaculture designer next year I will go into buisness with consulting and installation. So, I'm not a slacker. I'm educating myself on important things that matter a lot to me and making things happen for myself instead of spending time in school and then trying to get a job doing something (I'm not trying to say people in school are making a bad choice, but it's simply not for me). I'm a mountain biker and trail builder, locally known quite well. I also love backpacking or hiking and I'm a photographer (with some professional studio training and experience) and do freelance work now and then. I love food, everything to do with it. I'm all for growing my own, cooking it, and eating it. I am also continually studying medicinal plants for their many uses. It may be clear that when I need to be serious I am, but in all reality I just love to have fun like anyone else. I love to hang out with friends whenever I get the chance, go on adventures, watch movies, go dancing (and I've been told that I'm good at it - the drinking age in B.C. is 19, so I've been legally drinking there for the last two years). I'm tolerant of a wide variety of music and love a lot of it (I'm a very musical person although I'm yet to learn to play anything...), and I'm the same for movies. There is a lot more I could say about myself but I feel that I've written a lot already. I'll say one thing for sure, though; if you want to meet up with me, I very likely will not want to go out for lunch or something like that.
